This quilt was a labor of love. I ordered the kit thinking I was getting all the hearts cut out. NOT! What I did not realize was that I bought a template to cut out the hearts. I loved making this quilt! I made sure I put in all of my favorite pieces of fabric to have them in my life. I used heat and bond on the back of each one which was really easy once I figured how to use it. Heat and bond made it easier to sew around the heart. I love my heart quilt. Thank you Anna Maria.

Becky & Scott's Quilt
Becky & Scott have been using a quilt I made about 15 years ago. It has been patched and re-patched. So, they put in a request for a new scrap quilt. This is what I came up with for their new decor in their bedroom. As I look at it I see how much my fabric tastes have changed. I think it will make them happy.

Amanda & Matt's Wedding Quilt
This quilt was made for my nephew Matt and his wife Amanda. Amanda picked out the colors and I made it. the whole quilt is fadeout of triangles. It became a challenge as I I started to runout of fabric. So, back to the store I would go and find something that would not fight the other colors. Now when I look back at it I think it should have made it a heart. I hope they enjoy it!

Scrap Quilt - Ralph Lauren
This quilt was made as a request for a friend that resides in beautiful Bloomington, Indiana. Her and her husband bought a new house and they are making it own their own. A Scrap quilt was the order and of course I obliged to a relaxing few days of sewing. Amen to that! The large beige pieces of fabric seem to ground the quilt and make it look Ralph Laureny to me. I hope it is happy in its new home. I know it will be in good hands. Happy new home.

Tiny Yellowish Squares
Sometimes I get in the mood to cut squares VERY small and put them together. That is what I did with this. I love how it looks on my bed. It is so happy and sunshiny it makes me smile every time I walk past that yellowish square blanket.

Country Pink
This blanket was made this summer during one one of those hot, hot and even hotter weeks. I am trying very hard to use up my fabric that has been sitting. These colors for some reason represent my heart and soul. I love the mauve's in this quilt and the gray with the the little flowers. I had some batik fabric in this quilt but realized it did not work so I had to take/rip it out. In the long run it pulled the quilt together. I have a friend who is a seamstress and years ago she told me to never be afraid to rip something out that is not working. Well Jan, thanks. I rip out all of the time!

T & S
Boy do I have a story for you. This quilt was made as a request for a wedding gift from another couple. It is very hard for me to make a quilt for someone when you don't have much information on the person. I had shown them the picture of a quilt on my bed that I thought may be similar to what they were looking for. The seemed to like it but added the following information.
Their style is modern craftsman/ Frank Loyd Wright -type. styles; earthy colors (moss green, stone etc.) They also like traveling to Mexico if that helps with the theme. They also like music, bowling, have two pets (dog and cat).
All I could think of was................ HELP!
Oh and they wanted a T & S on it. I had never done this before and let me tell you I did some soul searching on this one. First, I tried to talk them out of it because the way I thougth I would have to do it was to make it the size of each each square and that is all they would see when they looked at the quilt. I even asked if I could put it on the back. Of course the answer was no. :( So smart husband jumped in and made the letters below on the computer and I sewed them on .I liked the style because it was soft. I wanted them to be quiet so they would not eat up the quilt. I think I could do cool things with letters now. Thanks Bob! After I mailed it out with my fingers crossed, I received the following email.
Got it. You nailed it. It's exactly what as we imagined and will be perfect for their home. It's completely awesome. They'll love it as much as we. Check is in the mail.
Thanks!
Pat
Amen to that!
Florida Quilt
This Easter vacation we went to Florida to visit our great friends. While there I slept underneath a quilt I had made for them in 2008! So, I thought I would take it outside and hang it up and take some sunny pictures of it . Gus and Max decided they would pose in the picture while hanging by the pool. The more I looked at this quilt the more I realized why it is in Florida. I wish someone would send me down there to lie around too.
This is the back side of the quilt. I love, love, love the back side. The fabrics are sweet and there is just enough of each color to make it sing together. It looks so peaceful and serene. Or it could just be me admiring it. Mmmm....:)

"Higgins"
In the washing machine getting close to it's final resting place.I just love how it show cases only a small part of the quilt but still looks so cool! Love. Love. Love it!
In the back yard getting it's last glimpse of green grass and fresh air.
This quilt was made out of scraps and is heading to Bloomington, IN to a great couple, Becky and Scott hence "The Higgins". Becky has always been a fan of my "scrap" quilts" and lets me just "go with the feeling". That is always a great feeling when you can be creative with a client's blessing. Becky it is time to come and pick up your new member of the family. "Higgins" is ready to go to Bloomington and become "one" with you, Scott, Stella and Lola! A great place to be.

Scraps Everywhere!
The above and below pictures are pieces of a scrap quilt I am making for a friend. I start with one section by adding on different pieces of scraps I find. Then, I sew another section until it gets to a size that I think will be ready to help the quilt grow! After I finish the pieces I begin to place them strategically so that each section is not eating up the other by color. This quilt was a request from a friend who loves to have scraps quilts. I enjoy making them too. I love to get rid of scraps that seem to take up so much space. Although this happens, the pile of fabric never seems to go down. :(

Purple Power finds a home.
This was one of my first quilts that never seemed to find a home, so I donated it to a an organization named S.O.A.R. They make sure a neignborhooed in Chicago stays extremely nice. It was a silent auction (my first) so of course we kept going over and sneaking to see who or if anyone bid on it. The bidding started at $75.00. the final bid was $150.00. I wanted to see who bought it because every time someone bid on it the other person bid it. They must have really liked it. This quilt needed a home and now it has one. I know I feel better already. A woman at this "gala" picked up my card and wants a T-shirt quilt made for her husband with his runner T-shirts. Yae a new quilting adventure.
When I look at this quilt I see that I was dong improvisational patchwork before I even knew what it was called.
I like this one too!
