String Quilt

This is my version of a string quilt.  This is very time consuming and tedious.  My white, center pieces were from some curtains I had made.  The rest were scraps.  I sewed long pieces of scraps together then sewed them to the center piece. I am happy with the results and it certainly does brighten up the room and makes it feel like summer. When I look at it I can't believe I made it. Shew!

This is one of my favorite quilts . I love how all the colors play off each other and compliment each of the other colors.  It seems to make my room brighter and happier.

The Rescue

My friend enjoys going to estate sales and finding deals on "stuff" she could sell.  She bought a box of quilts real cheap and so I was in charge of rescuing this one. I could only picture someone making this quilt then something happened where they could not finish it.  I repaired a few edges and had some blue fabric that matched it perfectly so I had it quilted and voila.  If you ever have the chance to rescue a quilt I highly recommend it.  It will make the quilt "Gods" happy.

Recently I was able to spend time with a dear old fried who resembled "Olive Oil"  in our earlier years. Now she is a budding artist in L.A and still the same happy go lucky gal.  After spending a few days with her I knew I needed to make her a quilt. It was time for her to be "Debby Quilt" blessed."  She looked at many different fabrics but did not see anything that she loved.  I then went to the scrap pile  and she went nuts.  All I could think of was perfect,  this is exactly the way I like to  do create quilts. I want the person I am making the quilt for to be happy!  She is very artsy and will sleep much better now. At least that is what she told me!
